A crispy and flavorful dish featuring soft tofu coated in a dry batter, deep-fried to golden perfection and topped with sautéed jalapeño peppers and salt.
Prepare the ingredients. Cut jalapeño peppers. Take the tofu out of the box. Use paper towel to press out any excess water. Cut into bite-sized pieces.
In a shallow bowl or plate, add flour, cornstarch and baking powder to make the dry batter.
Coat each piece of tofu with batter & set aside.
Heat up a pot of oil to 350 F. Carefully, add tofu to the oil. Fry for 5-7 minutes until golden yellow. Remove the tofu from the oil. Reheat the oil to 400 F. Deep fry the tofu again for 2-3 minutes to make them extra crispy. Set aside.
Fry the peppers until aromatic. Add salt and stir fry. Sprinkle on top of the tofu. (Optional: Toss the tofu back in and mix with the salt & pepper. Because we used soft tofu, the tofu is very delicate, and we’re worried that stir frying will break the tofu.)
 Enjoy!
